House of Risk Method is used to identify the most potential risk agents, while the fuzzy reasoning risk assessment model is used to determine the risk severity by risk agents. Based on the analysis, it is found that risk agent stock out of the product is the most potential risk agent in this industry. To reduce the impact, mitigation strategies are suggested for stock out product risk agents in warehouse are flexible supply base, safety stock, internal coordination, as well as create and control production schedules.

The intent of this book is to describe some recent data mining tools that have proven effective in dealing with data sets which often involve uncertain description or other complexities that cause difficulty for the conventional approaches of logistic regression, neural network models, and decision trees. We have organized the material into three parts. Part I introduces concepts. Part II contains chapters on a number of different techniques often used in data mining. Part III focuses on business applications of data mining.

In this paper, a fuzzy finite element method (FFEM) for determining the responses of structures is proposed by using the transformation between fuzzy and random variables. Firstly, the formulae for establishing normal random variables equivalent to symmetric triangular fuzzy numbers are presented based on the combination of the principle of insufficient reason and that of maximum specificity.

The proposed approach allows the representation, handling and utilisation of different levels of uncertainty in knowledge. This allows transformation-based fuzzy rule interpolation techniques to model and harness additional uncertain information in order to implement an effective fuzzy interpolative reasoning system.

Fuzziness is found in engineering, medicine, manufacturing and other areas in our daily life. Recently, Fuzziness is applied to find the solution of human decision, reasoning and learning. The concept of intuitionistic fuzzification of subalgebra and KM ideals of the K-algebra are considered for testing the satisfaction of the properties.

The paper is an overview on an algebraic approach to domains of linguistic variables and some first applications to show the applicability of this new approach. In this approach, each linguistic domain can be considered as a hedge algebra (HA for short) and based on the structure of HAs, a notion of fuzziness measure of linguistic hedges and terms can be defined. In order to apply hedge algebras to those problems, the results of which are needed, a notion of semantically quantifying mappings (SQMs) will be introduced.

During last years, lots of the fuzzy rule based classifier (FRBC) design methods have been proposed to improve the classification accuracy and the interpretability of the proposed classification models. In view of that trend, genetic design methods of linguistic terms along with their (triangular and trapezoidal) fuzzy sets based semantics for FRBCs, using hedge algebras as the mathematical formalism, have been proposed.

This study will discuss more clearly the concept of real-world-semantics interpretability and point out that such requirement is a challenge to the study of the interpretability of fuzzy systems, especially for approaches within the fuzzy set framework. A methodological challenge is that it requires both the computational expression representing a given linguistic fuzzy rule base and an approximate reasoning method working on this computation expression must also preserve the real-world semantics of the application problem.

In this paper, we introduce a hedge-algebras-based methodology in vibration control of structural systems to design fuzzy controllers, referred to as hedge-algebras-based controllers (HACs). In this methodology, vague linguistic terms are not expressed by fuzzy sets, but by inherent order relationships between vague terms existing in a term-domain. Semantically quantifying mappings (SQMs), which preserve semantics-based order relationships in termdomains, are defined in a close relationship with the fuzziness measure and the fuzziness intervals of vague terms.

This paper answers that question by presenting a fuzzy rule based classifier design method based on hedge algebras with a pure hedge algebras classification reasoning method. The experimental results over 17 real world datasets are compared to the existing methods based on hedge algebras and fuzzy sets theory showing that the proposed method is effective and produces good results.

A fuzzy finite-element method for analysis of laterally loaded pile in multilayer soil with uncertain properties is presented. The finite-element formulation is established using a beam-on-two-parameter foundation model. Uncertainty propagation of the soil parameters to the pile response is evaluated by a perturbation technique. This approach requires a few number of classical finite-element equations to be solved and provides reasonable results. A comparison with vertex method is made in a numerical example.

Fuzzy databases with linguistic data based on hedge algebras were introduced, where the evaluation of queries containing linguistic data was transformed into that of traditional queries. On this new viewpoint, in this paper a notion of linear functional dependencies in these databases will be defined reasonably. The problems related to increasingly and decreasingly linear functional dependencies will be considered.

On this new viewpoint, in the present paper a notion of “fuzzy” functional dependencies in these databases will be defined reasonably. These new dependencies will be examined in the context of traditional functional dependencies, which play as syntaxtical constraints of the databases under consideration. Relationship between these two kinds of such dependencies will also be considered.

PCFGs can be accurate, they suffer from vocabulary coverage problems: treebanks are small and lexicons induced from them are limited. The reason for this treebank-centric view in PCFG learning is 3-fold: the English treebank is fairly large and English morphology is fairly simple, so that in English, the treebank does provide mostly adequate lexical coverage1 ; Lexicons enumerate analyses, but don’t provide probabilities for them; and, most importantly, the treebank and the external lexicon are likely to follow different annotation schemas, reflecting different linguistic perspectives. ..
