Results indicated that the five formulations tested, as well as the complex mixtures of them, induced genotoxicity, alteration in white blood cell counts and oxidative stress at environmentally relevant concentrations. Mixtures showed different interactions depending of the biomarker analyzed.

The water quality of rivers located in areas close to major cities is deteriorating significantly due to increased pollution. The Karasu River, which passes through Erzurum city Turkey, is getting polluted day by day due to domestic and industrial wastewater. In the study, various assessments were made in three different fish species to determine the impact of possible contamination here. Capoeta capoeta, Alburnus mossulensis and Squalius cephalus were caught from four stations of the river.

In this study, novel 2-substituted benzimidazoles molecules having triazole, thiadiazole, and oxadiazole rings were synthesized and were evaluated by anticancer, antioxidant/oxidant status, genotoxicity, and antiangiogenesis assays. Anticancer activity of the compounds was determined by MTT (0.5, 5, and 50 µg/mL) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release assays against human prostate and breast cancer cells. Oxidative status of cells was elicited by total oxidative stress and total antioxidant capacity methods.

The SOS response is an almost ubiquitous response of cells to genotoxic stresses. The full complement of genes in the SOS regulon for Vibrio species has only been addressed through bioinformatic analyses predicting LexA binding box consensus and in vitro validation. Here, we perform whole transcriptome sequencing from Vibrio cholerae treated with mitomycin C as an SOS inducer to characterize the SOS regulon and other pathways affected by this treatment.

Diverse stresses including genotoxic therapy can induce proliferating cancer cells to undergo cellular senescence and take on the characteristic phenotypes of replicative cellular aging. This accelerated or therapyinduced senescence has been alternatively proposed to contribute to therapeutic efficacy or resistance.

A common approach to cancer therapy in clinical practice is the combination of several drugs to boost the anticancer activity of available drugs while suppressing their unwanted side effects. s. In this regard, we examined the efficacy of combination treatment with the widely-used genotoxic drug doxorubicin and the mitochondriotoxic Hsp90 inhibitor gamitrinib to exploit disparate stress signaling pathways for cancer therapy.

: Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a B-cell hemopathy characterized by the t(11;14) translocation and the aberrant overexpression of cyclin D1. This results in an unrestrained cell proliferation.

To study the impact of radish oil on the possible genotoxic and hepatotoxic effects of hexavalent chromium, male rats were divided into 4 groups. Group 1 served as control, group 2 received radish oil at the recommended human therapeutic dose (0.07 mL/kg) by gavage, group 3 received sodium dichromate dihydrate (SDD) 520 mg/L in drinking water, and group 4 received both SDD and radish oil as previously mentioned in groups 2 and 3. All treatments were continued for six months.

The present study evaluated the genotoxic effect of aqueous extract of C. sarcomedium Meve & Liede and its protective role in chromosomal aberrations induced by 2% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) on Allium cepa root meristem. Our results showed that the C. sarcomedium extract induced major chromosomal aberrations, viz., nuclear lesions, chromosome breaks, chromosome laggards, vagrance, stickiness, and bridges.

This study was performed to determine the cytogenetic effects of short-term thermal stress in human cultured lymphocytes. Experimental heat shock (39 °C) was performed alone or with the addition of mitomycin C (MMC) to determine the synergistic or antagonistic effects of heat shock on genotoxicity induced by MMC.

In the present study, to determine the effects of β-estradiol on the ability of plants to tolerate lead toxicity, β-estradiol (10 µM) and lead (1.75 mM), singly or in combination, were exogenously applied to wheat seeds. Although lead resulted in a marked increase in the activities of antioxidant enzymes, including superoxide dismutase, guaiacol peroxidase.

Drought and salinity induce biochemical, physiological, morphological, and genetic responses in plants. To understand the damage to different wheat species caused by these stresses, we investigated root-shoot growth, cell division, chromosomal aberrations and nucleolus organizer regions (AgNORs) in root tip cells.
