Facial emotion recognition (FER) is meaningful for human-machine interaction such as clinical practice, playing games, and behavioral description. FER has been an active area of research over the past few decades, and it is still challenging due to the high intra-class variation, the heterogeneity of human faces, and variations in images such as different facial poses and various lighting conditions.

In this paper, we propose to use Conformal Geometric Algebra (CGA) to feature extraction and reduce dimensions of the data. First, the action data is preprocessed to normalize the data. Next, use CGA to reduce dimensions of data and create feature vectors. Finally, use the LSTM for training and prediction. The experiment was conducted on the CMU dataset with 8 different actions and the results showed that the proposed method has higher results than the previous methods.

The main aim of this work is to detect and track human activity, and classify actions for two publicly available video databases. In this work, a novel approach of feature extraction from video sequence by combining Scale Invariant Feature Transform and optical flow computation are used where shape, gradient and orientation features are also incorporated for robust feature formulation.

Action and gesture recognition provides important information for interaction between human and devices that monitors living, healthcare facilities or entertainment activities in smart homes. Recent years, there are many learning machine models studying to recognize human action and gesture. In this paper, we propose a dynamic hand gesture recognition system based on two stream-convolution network (ConvNet) architecture. Besides, we also modify the method to enhance its performance that is suitable for indoor application.

The critical flicker fusion frequency (CFF) is the frequency at which a flickering stimulus is perceived to be constant; the quick recognition of variation in stimuli indicates the active coordination between eyes and brain. When human eyes get exposed to the light radiating from Smartphone screen for longer period that driven us into recognizable mental and visual fatigue results in sleep disturbances, mood fluctuations, insomnia, dry eyes, computer vision syndrome, misconceptions and tactile hallucinations.

Dendrimeric peptides selective for microbial surfaces have been developed to achieve broad antimicrobial activity and low hemolytic activity to human erythrocytes. The dendrimeric core is an asymmetric lysine branching tethered with two to eight copies of a tetrapeptide (R4) or an octapeptide (R8). The R4 tetrapeptide (RLYR) contains a putative microbial surface recognition BHHB motif (B ¼ basic, H ¼ hydrophobic amino acid) found in protegrins and tachyplesins whereas the octapeptide R8 (RLYRKVYG) consists of an R4 and a degenerated R4 repeat....

This paper describes recent progress and the author's perspectives of speech recognition technology. Applications of speech recognition technology can be classified into two main areas, dictation and human-computer dialogue systems. In the dictation domain, the automatic broadcast news transcription is now actively investigated, especially under the DARPA project.

In this paper, we propose a multi-criteria based active learning approach and effectively apply it to named entity recognition. Active learning targets to minimize the human annotation efforts by selecting e xamples for labeling. To maximize the contribution of the selected examples, we consider the multiple criteria: informativeness, representativeness and diversity and propose measures to quantify them.

The multisubstrate deoxyribonucleoside kinase ofDroso-phila melanogaster (Dm-dNK) is sequence-related to three human deoxyribonucleoside kinases and to herpes simplex virus type-1 thymidine kinase. Dm-dNK phos-phorylates both purine and pyrimidine deoxyribonucleo-sides and nucleoside analogues although it has a preference for pyrimidine nucleosides. We performed site-directed mutagenesis on residues that, based on structural data, are involved in substrate recognition.

Residue Leu10 of substance P (SP) is critical for NK-1 receptor recognition and agonist activity. In order to probe the bioactive conformation of this residue,cis-andtrans-3-substituted prolinoleucines were introduced in position 10 of SP. The substituted SP analogues were tested for their affinity to humanNK-1 receptor specific binding sites (NK-1M and NK-1m) and their potency to stimulate adenylate cyclase and phospholipase C in CHO cells transfected with the human NK-1 receptor.

While Active Learning (AL) has already been shown to markedly reduce the annotation efforts for many sequence labeling tasks compared to random selection, AL remains unconcerned about the internal structure of the selected sequences (typically, sentences). We propose a semisupervised AL approach for sequence labeling where only highly uncertain subsequences are presented to human annotators, while all others in the selected sequences are automatically labeled.

Adenosine 5¢-polyphosphates have been identified in vitro, as products of certain enzymatic reactions, andin vivo. Although the biological role of these compounds is not known, there exist highly specific hydrolases that degrade nucleoside 5¢-polyphosphates into the corresponding nucleoside 5¢-triphos-phates.

trans-[PtCl2NH3(4-Hydroxymethylpyridine)] (trans-PtHMP) is an analogue of clinically ineffective transplatin, which is cytotoxic in the human leuke-mia cancer cell line. As DNA is a major pharmacological target of anti-tumor platinum compounds, modifications of DNA by trans-PtHMP and recognition of these modifications by active tumor suppressor protein p53 were studied in cell-free media using the methods of molecular biology and biophysics.

These are not just negative attitudes. They’re very human. Why should people work hard to make a project succeed when their perception is that it’s for someone else’s benefit and that someone else will receive recognition for their work? Therefore, you need to identify the specific features that will give your team members the personal interest and motivation to focus their energy on the project. A team is created not by assigning someone a job but by action and opportunity.

Receptor protein-tyrosine phosphatasea(RPTPa) is a transmembrane pro-tein with tandem cytoplasmic phosphatase domains. Most of the catalytic activity is contained by the membrane-proximal catalytic domain (D1). We found a spontaneous Arg554 to His mutation in the pTyr recognition loop of the membrane-distal phosphatase domain (D2) of a human patient. This mutation was not linked to the disease.

Image recognition and classification is one of the most actively pursued areas in the broad field of imaging sciences and engineering. The reason is evident: the ability to replace human visual capabilities with a machine is very important and there are diverse applications. The main idea is to inspect an image scene by processing data obtained from sensors.
