Implications for Activity

Global competition has intensified geographic repositioning of supply chain activities with implications for the economic prosperity of specific regions and geographies affected by such shifts. This study examines the relationship between the level of corruption and economic growth using the supply chain and ARDL bounds test method. The data used are GDP, the level of corruption, foreign direct investment, government spending and inflation from 2000-2018. The results of the study indicate a negative and significant impact on the level of corruption on economic growth in the long run.

This work investigates the generation of neutron flux inside lead shielding due to cosmic rays as a function of shielding thickness by use of the GEANT Monte-Carlo modelling code. GEANT allows for the Monte-Carlo modelling of the transport of particles in matter. This includes muons, the particles of interest here, which originate from cosmic ray showers.

file:///C:/Users/dangt/Downloads/qhf_2In traditional listening teaching methods in general and, in particular, teaching listening tends to treat students equally. Teachers have tendencies to present the same in-class exercises and activities to all learners and expect the same outcome. In present, with the development of high technology, numerous techniques to teach listening are applied in listening lessons; however, dictation is still a good method to be used to teach listening when it has various implications for educators in terms of classroom instructions.

The overall goal of this thesis is to evaluate the impact of nontraditional banking activities on bank efficiency and factors that affect it at bank level of listed commercial banks during the period 2011 - 2019. On that basis, proposing policy implications and appropriate solutions to promote the development of nontraditional banking activities to increase efficiency and competitiveness for listed commercial banks in particular and Vietnamese commercial banks in general.

Regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) proteins were originally identified as negative regulators of G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling via their GTPase-accelerating protein (GAP) activity. All RGS proteins contain evolutionarily conserved RGS domain; however, they differ in their size and regulatory domains. RGS1 and RGS10 are smaller than other RGS proteins, and their functions involve various inflammatory responses including autoimmune responses in both the periphery and the central nervous system (CNS). Neuroinflammation is the chronic inflammatory response in the CNS.

Regulator of G protein signaling (RGS) proteins are gatekeepers regulating the cellular responses induced by G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)-mediated activation of heterotrimeric G proteins. Specifically, RGS proteins determine the magnitude and duration of GPCR signaling by acting as a GTPase-activating protein for Gα subunits, an activity facilitated by their semiconserved RGS domain. The R7 subfamily of RGS proteins is distinguished by two unique domains, DEP/DHEX and GGL, which mediate membrane targeting and stability of these proteins.

Mitochondrial functional and structural impairment and generation of oxidative stress have been implicated in aging, various diseases and chemotherapies. This study analyzed azidothymidine (AZT)-caused failures in mitochondrial functions, in redox regulation and activation of the HIV-1 gene expression. We monitored intracellular concentrations of ATP and glutathione (GSH) as the indicators of energy production and redox conditions, respectively, during the time-course experiments with U937 and MOLT4 human lymphoid cells in the presence of AZT (0.05 mgÆmL)1) or H2O2 (0.01 mM) for 15–25 days.

Human aromatase is responsible for estrogen biosynthesis and is implicated, in particular, in reproduction and estro-gen-dependent tumor proliferation. Themolecular structure model is largelyderived fromtheX-ray structure of bacterial cytochromes sharing only 15±20% identities with hP-450arom. In the present study, site directed mutagenesis experiments were performed to examine the role of K119, C124, I125, K130, E302, F320, D309, H475, D476, S470, I471 and I474 of aromatase in catalysis and for substrate binding....

Vibrio choleraehemolysin (HlyA), a water-soluble protein with a native monomeric relative molecular mass of 65 000, forms transmembrane pentameric channels in target bio-membranes.TheHlyAbinds to lipid vesicles nonspecifically and without saturation; however, self-assembly is triggered specifically by cholesterol. Here we show that the HlyA partitioned quantitatively to amphiphilic media irrespective of their compositions, indicating that the toxin had an amphiphilic surface.

Ina search for genes regulated in response to cAMPwe have identified a newprotein, p76 RBE , whosemRNAand protein expression is enhanced in thyrocytes following thyrotropin stimulation of the cAMP transduction cascade. This protein presents important similarities with Rhophilin and contains different protein–protein interactionmotifs. The presence of HR1 and PDZ motifs as well as a potential PDZ binding domain motif suggests that p76 RBE could be implicated in targeting or scaffolding processes....

Double-stranded RNA-activated protein kinase (PKR), a serine/threonine kinase, is activated in virus-infected cells and acts as an antiviral machinery of type I interferons. PKR controls several stress response pathways induced by double-stranded RNA, tumor necrosis factor-aor lipo-polysaccharide, which result in the activation of stress-acti-vated protein kinase/c-Jun NH2 -terminal kinase and p38 of the mitogen-activated protein kinase family.

Era is a highly conserved GTPase essential for bacterial growth. The N-terminal part of Era contains a conserved GTPase domain, whereas the C-terminal part of the protein contains anRNA- andmembrane-binding domain, theKH domain. To investigate whether the binding of Era to 16S rRNA and membrane requires its GTPase activity and whether the GTPase domain is essential for these acti-vities, the N- and C-terminal parts of the Streptococ-cus pneumoniaeEra –Era-N(aminoacids 1–185) andEra-C (amino acids 141–299), respectively – were expressed and purified. ...

Intravenous iron, used for the treatment of anemia in chronic renal failure andother diseases, represents a possible source of free iron in tissue cells, particularly in the liver. In this study we examined the effect of different sources of intravenous iron (IVI) on the labile iron pool (LIP) which represents the nonferritin-bound, redox-active iron that is implicated in oxidative stress and cell injury. Furthermore, we examined the role of the LIP for the synthesis of ferritin.

Humanb2 -glycoprotein I (b2 GPI), also known as apolipo-protein H, has been implicated in haemostasis and the pro-duction ofanti-phospholipid antibodies. There is a wide range ofinterindividual variation in b2GPI plasma levels that is thought to be under genetic control, but itsmolecular basis remains unknown. To understand the genetic basis of b2GPI variation, we analyzed the 5¢ flanking region ofthe b2GPIgene for mutation detection by DHPLC and identi-fied a point mutation at the transcriptional initiation site ()1CfiA) with a carrier frequency of 12.1%. ...

The urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) receptor (uPAR) has been implicated in signal transduction and biological processes including cancer metastasis, angiogenesis, cell migration, and wound healing. It is a specific cell surface receptor for its ligand uPA, which catalyzes the formation of plasmin from plasminogen, thereby activating the proteolytic cascade that contributes to the breakdown of extracellular matrix, a key step in cancer metastasis.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme-2 (ACE2) may play an important role in cardiorenal disease and it has also been implicated as a cellular receptor for the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) virus. The ACE2 active-site model and its crystal structure, which was solved recently, highlighted key differences between ACE2 and its counterpart angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), which are responsible for their differing substrate and inhibitor sensitivities.
