Estimating punching shear capacity (PSC) of steel fibre reinforced concrete slabs (SFRCS) is a crucial task in structural design. This study investigates the performances of artificial neural networks trained by the adaptive moment estimation (Adam) method in dealing with the task of interest. To alleviate overfitting problem, decoupled weight decay (AdamW) and L2 regularization (AdamL2) are used. A dataset including 140 samples has been used to train and verify the machine learning approaches.

A field experiment was conducted to estimate the genetic variability, trait association and path coefficient analysis among the Indian mustard genotypes during rabi, 2019. Analysis of variance revealed the mean sum of squares due to genotypes was highly significant for all the characters studies indicating the existence of ample variability among the genotypes studied. The high GCV and PCV observed for number of siliquae per plant and secondary branches per plant indicated the influence of environment on the expression of these characters were at minimum level.

A study was conducted to estimate the pre- and post-weaning relative growth rates (RGR) in Sirohi goats born during 2005 to 2017 under field conditions. The overall least-squares mean for pre-weaning (0-3M) and post weaning (3-12M) relative growth rate were 1.79±0.02 and 0.263±0.005 percent per day, respectively.

Analysis of variance for combining ability revealed that variances due to gca and sca were significant for all the traits except for TSS that exhibited non-significant mean squares for gca and sca in environment E1 only suggesting the importance of both types of variances in the inheritance of the traits. GCA and SCA also interacted significantly with the environments. The estimates of dominance variance were higher in magnitude than corresponding estimates of additive variance indicating the preponderance of non-additive gene action.

The SCS-CN method has been widely used to estimate the surface runoff from rainfall-runoff events. However in North Western tract of India this is very poorly documented. So, the main objective of the study was to propose and select the best method for the computation of surface runoff including, new empirical method and to compare this by other approaches on the bases of Root mean square error (RMSE), Nash Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE), Coefficient of determination (R2), PB (Per cent biasness) and residual error.

The analysis of variance for female and male parents exhibited (Table 1) significant difference for all the traits. The estimates of mean sum of squares due to Lines showed significant differences for all the traits except fruit rind thickness, fruit flesh thickness, fruit girth, total soluble solids (TSS) and total crude fiber content and in the male parents apart from these traits node to first female flower, sex ratio, vine length also indicating the presence of sufficient variability among the parents studied.

In this paper, we have offered a class of modified ratio type variance estimator for estimation of population variance of the study variable (basic), when Tri Mean and Quartile average of the auxiliary or supplementary variable are known. The bias and mean square error (MSE) of the proposed estimator are obtained. From the numerical study it is observed that the proposed estimator performs healthier under ideal situations than the existing estimators in the literature.

A study was conducted in okra to estimate the magnitude of gene action involved and to identify the good combiner for fruit yield and other yield attributing characters. 55 okra hybrids derived by crossing of 11parents in diallel mating design excluding reciprocals were studied to assess the combining ability and gene action. Line x Tester analysis was carried out for thirteen diversified parents at the department of Horticulture, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to study the combining ability for yield and yield contributing characters in snake gourd. The study was carried out at Agricultural Research Station, Tandur (PJTSAU) during Rabi, 2017-18 to determine genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance estimates in thirty genotypes of safflower. Analysis of variance involving a set of thirty genotypes of safflower for seven quantitative characters viz., days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height, number of effective capitula/plant, number of seeds/capitulum, test weight (g) and seed yield (kg/ha) revealed highly significant mean sum of squares for all the characters indicating greater diversity among the genotypes.

The present investigation was carried out to model the trend of area and production of sugarcane in Tamil Nadu. It was obtained by using the secondary data of area and production over a period of 30 years (1984-85 to 2014-15). For this purpose, Different nonlinear models such as Logistic, Gompertz, Rational, Gaussian, Weibull, Hoerl and Sinusoidal models were employed. Levenberg-Marquardt technique was used to obtain the estimates of the unknown parameters of the nonlinear regression models.

In the present study, we have developed new estimators for the estimation of finite population variance by using auxiliary information as combination of conventional and non-conventional measures. Bias and mean square error has been worked out up to the first order of approximation. The empirical study has been carried out through numerical demonstration, under which improved estimators have performed better than the other existing estimators.

Pisum sativum L. had been used as a good source of nutritious food. The estimate of genetic variability was observed for twenty three traits on 60 genotypes. The ANOVA indicated that the mean sum of squares due to genotypes were highly significant for days to first flower opening and days to fifty percent flowering, respectively in all the environmental conditions.
