In this Masters thesis computational modelling techniques were employed to investigate iron-free apo-Lactoferrin (apo-Lf) structural conformation changes in the presence of variant temperature and pH. These conditions represent the environment most milk protein goes through in food processing and the production of food products.

We have investigated the thermodynamic properties of the cubic zirconia ZrO2 using the statistical moment method in the statistical physics. The free energy, thermal lattice expansion coefficient, specific heats at the constant volume and those at the constant pressure, CV and CP , are derived in closed analytic forms in terms of the power moments of the atomic displacements.

A simplified procedure of lock-in thermography was developed and applied for characterization of nuclear materials. The possibility of thickness and thermal diffusivity measurements with the accuracy better than 90% was demonstrated with different metals and Zircaloy-4 claddings.

This paper focuses on the use of cogeneration for district heating and its possible development perspectives within the French energy transition. After recapping some common assumptions about nuclear cogeneration, we will describe the techno-economic model that we built to evaluate the characteristics of introducing cogeneration into an already operating power plant.

The purpose of this paper is to model the operation of the Shutdown Cooling System (SDCS) for CANDU 6 nuclear power plants in case of LOCA accidents, using Flowmaster calculation code, by delimiting models and setting calculation assumptions, input data for hydraulic analysis and input data for calculating thermal performance check for heat exchangers that are part of this system.

The goal of this study is to demonstrate and quantify the impact that the uncertainty in thermophysical properties has on key metrics of thermal hydraulic importance for MSRs, in particular on the heat transfer coefficient. In order to achieve this, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations using the RANS k-ω SST model were compared to published experiment data on molten salt.

An analytical and numerical solution is developed for a transient heat conduction equation in which a plane slab is heated by a bimodal distribution beam over the upper surface. In laser heat treatment of steel few methods are used to produce a wider and nearly uniform average irradiance profile.

Research targets of the thesis: Fabricating spinel ferrite nanoparticle M1-xZnxFe2O4 (M = Mn, Co; 0,0 ≤x≤0,7) with controlled parameters affecting to Hc , TC and D. Establishing semi-experimental models based on experimental results to explain the correlation between SLP and (Keff, D) in order to figure out suitable mechanisms for calculating SLP value of CoFe2O4 nanoparticle.

Oligomerization into multimeric complexes is a prerequisite for the chaperone function of almost all a-crystallin type heat shock proteins (a-Hsp), but the molecular details of complex assembly are poorly understood. The a-Hsp proteins from Bradyrhizobium japonicum are suitable bacterial models for structure-function studies of these ubiquitous stress proteins. They fall into two distinct classes, A and B, display chaperone activity in vitro and form oligomers of 24 subunits.

The major 2S albumin allergen from Brazil nuts, Ber e 1, was subjected to gastrointestinal digestion using a physiologically relevantin vitro model sys-tem either before or after heating (100 C for 20 min). Whilst the albumin was cleaved into peptides, these were held together in a much larger struc-ture even when digested by using a simulated phase 1 (gastric) followed by a phase 2 (duodenal) digestion system. Neither prior heating of Ber e 1 nor the presence of the physiological surfactant phosphatidylcholine affected the pattern of proteolysis.
