The influence of porosity distribution pattern on the nonlinear buckling and postbuckling behavior of porous cylindrical shells subjected to axial compression are investigated by the analytical approach in this paper. The material properties are assumed to vary through the thickness of the shell. There are three porosity distribution pattern types are considered.

This paper attempts to improve the load-carrying capacity of FG-CNTRC cylindrical shells by proposing the design options of the spiral FG-CNTRC stiffener system. By using the anisotropic beam theory and the transformation technique, a homogenization technique for the spiral FG-CNTRC stiffeners is developed and the nonlinear buckling behavior of spirally stiffened cylindrical shells is analysed.

The nonlinear buckling behaviors of the functionally graded graphene platelet reinforced composite (FG-GPLRC) doubly curved shallow shells under external pressure in the thermal environment are introduced and investigated in this paper. The Donnell shell theory and the strain-displacement relationship of von Karman are used. At the bottom surface of FG-GPLRC doubly curve shallow shells, the FG-GPLRC stiffener system in the transverse, longitudinal, or/and oblique directions is installed to increase the bearing capacity of the shallow shells.

An analytical approach of nonlinear buckling and postbuckling analysis of core-corrugated functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite (FG- CNTRC) cylindrical panels under axial compression is presented in the present study. A homogenization technique is applied for the corrugated core with thermal effects. The nonlinear stability equation system of panels is formulated by using the Donnell thin shell theory with the von Kármán geometrical nonlinearities.

The bracing systems have been considered a reliable solution for the seismic-resistant design of buildings, which has been widely applied in recent years. This article aims to investigate the performance of braced frame structures in the seismic-resistant design. Typical buckling restrained braced frames, represented by an approximate bilinear behaviour, are selected to perform nonlinear time-history analyses.

This work deals with the nonlinear buckling and post-buckling of stiffened nanocomposite plates reinforced functionally graded carbon nanotubes (FG CNTRC) resting on elastic foundation in thermal environment. Obtained results showed that the properties of the nanocomposited plates embedded with single-walled carbon nanotubes are dependent on temperature and altered according to linear functions of the thickness.

This paper presents a comprehensive computational investigation into the nonlinear elastic buckling response of perfect and imperfect thin cantilever cylinders under global transverse shear. A complete range of practical lengths was investigated, from short cylinders which fail by shear buckling to very long ones which exhibit local meridional compression buckling with significant prior cross-section ovalisation.

This paper is concerned with the nonlinear dynamic buckling of sandwich functionally graded circular cylinder shells filled with fluid. Governing equations are derived using the classical shell theory and the geometrical nonlinearity in von Karman–Donnell sense is taken into account. Solutions of the problem are established by using Galerkin’s method and Runge–Kutta method. Effects of thermal environment, geometric parameters, volume fraction index k and fluid on dynamic critical loads of shells are investigated.
