In this study, green-synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) were surface-modified with pluronic F-127 after being synthesized using the leaf extract of guava (Psidium guajava). The resulting material, ZnO@F-127, was then characterized, and its anticancer activity was evaluated on several cell lines.

This study would like to point out the potential compounds as inflammatory agents. Herein, we displayed the isolation and structural identification of thirteen compounds including ten flavonoids, one tannin, one triterpenoid, and one derivative of benzoic acid from the methanolic extract. Furthermore, all of them were evaluated the anti-inflammatory activity.

This study aimed to quantify the phenolic contents and the antioxidant capacities of leaf extract powders from three Myrtaceae plants, namely Cleistocalyx operculatus (Vietnamese name: Vối), Psidium guajava (Ổi), and Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Sim), investigate their inhibitive activities on the growth of bacteria isolated from spoiled shrimps, and evaluate their values as preservative agents in the cold storage of Pacific whiteleg shrimps (Penaeus vannamei).

Nghiên cứu đã thực hiện khảo sát các hoạt tính sinh học có tác dụng điều trị đái tháo đường type 2 và ngăn ngừa một số biến chứng, trên lá của các cây sake (Artocarpus altilis (Park.) Fosb.), ổi (Psidium guajava L.) và nở ngày đất (Gomphrena celosioides Mart.). Ổi cho giá trị IC50 ức chế enzyme α-glucosidase thấp nhất (1,98 µg/mL) và cũng là cây có khả năng kháng oxy hóa tôt nhất với IC50 là 17,23 µg/mL.

The jumping plant-louse Triozoida limbata is monophagous on guava (Psidium guajava), inducing leaf galls. Guava is planted today in warmer regions around the world but T. limbata is restricted to Central and South America. Recently, the latter has become a key pest in commercial plantations in Brazil (Pernambuco and São Paulo). Modeling of potential distributions is a good tool for developing control strategies of insect pests. Based on distributional data from the Americas, we created models for the psyllids for the present and future using different scenarios of climate change.

The ripe fruit contain approximately 79.50 per cent moisture, 15.25 per cent dry matter, 3.20 per cent crude fibre and little amount of ash. The TSS varies from 10.5-14.5 per cent. Several volatile compounds including hydrocarbons, alcohol and carbonyls have been found to be responsible for the characteristic flavor of guava. The decrease in astringency with advancement of maturity is ascribed to polymerization of leuco-anthocyanins.

The results of the present investigation indicated that, different pruning treatments and fertilizer levels produced significant effect on growth and yield attributes of guava. The treatment of 45 cm of past season’s growth with application of fertilizer levels of 125% RDF (1000:500:500 g NPK/tree) recorded the significant effect on the growth parameter like plant height, shoot length, shoot diameter and number of leaves per shoot and produced maximum values of all these growth parameters with minimum days of flowering and fruit set. The maximum yield (60.41 kg/tree and 16.79 t/ha.

The study revealed that the guava + banana and guava + eggplant systems were proved to be the most significant intercropping system by improving physio-chemical properties like bulk density, water holding capacity, SOC, available NPK of the soil. The maximum system equivalent yield and economic return were obtained from the same system. Thus the guava + banana intercropping system is not only the best for restoring soil fertility but also obtaining the maximum economic return for guava growers of West Bengal.
