This paper aims to provide information about the fractions of cadmium (Cd) and its distribution in surface sediment collected from bivalves harvesting areas in Binh Thuan province (Tuy Phong, Phan Thiet, Lagi). For this purpose, the sediment samples were collected monthly along with these areas in 2015–2016. To analyze the fractions of Cd, a five-step Tessier (1979) sequential extraction process was used, including Fraction 1 (Exchangeable), Fraction 2 (Bound to carbonate), Fraction 3 (Bound to iron-manganese oxide), Fraction 4 (Bound to organic compounds), and Fraction 5 (Residual).

A simple and environment-friendly electrochemical method using activated glassy carbon electrodes (aGCE) for monitoring the residues of tetracycline in pork samples was developed. A two-step pretreatment procedure was established for activating the glassy carbon electrode surface, including mechanical polishing and electrochemical pretreatment. A 55-year-old woman presented with a 3-year history of gradually progressive postprandial epigastric fullness. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed a large, broad-based mass in the medial wall of the duodenal bulb (Figure 1). Endoscopic ultrasound showed a large, hyperechoic lesion originating from the submucosal layer of the duodenal wall consistent with a lipoma, and computed tomography of the abdomen with contrast suggested the presence of a homogeneous mass with uniform fat density in the duodenal bulb (Figure 2).

This study attempts to quantify the shocks to a banking network and analyze the transfer of shocks through the network. We consider two sources of shocks: external shocks due to market and macroeconomic factors which impact the entire banking system, and idiosyncratic shocks due to failure of a single bank. The external shocks we considered in this study are due to exchange rate shocks. An ARMA/GARCH model is used to extract i.i.d. residuals for this purpose.

Ecdysone Receptor (EcR) is a protein that belongs to the superfamily of nuclear receptors, widely studied for pesticide discovery. A single step test card for field screening of pesticide residues in vegetables based on simultaneous inhibition and reaction of cholinesterase was previously proposed. Here, favorable conditions to immobilize cholinesterase on filter paper for bulk production of this test card were developed. An amount of 28 mL of 6 U/mL cholinesterase solution was sprayed onto a filter paper sheet (210 mm × 297 mm) with speed of 1.5 mL/s.
