Tungrymbai is a traditional fermented dish of the Khasi and Jaintia tribes of Meghalaya. In this study an attempt was made to standardize the preparation of “Tungrymbai” using Lactobacillus fermentum and Lactobacillus plantarum culture obtained from fermented foods of Meghalaya. Three samples were prepared and the bacterial strain was added aseptically to the cooked soybeans in a combination of 1:1 ratio at 1, 2 and 3% culture combination respectively, a traditional sample was used as control. The samples were fermented at 37˚C for 3-4 days.

This research provides a conceptual meaning of traditional budgeting as an examination of income with respect to expenditure and developed a model framework for understanding the usefulness of traditional budgeting in today’s business environment. Cordyceps is a well-known traditional medicine to heal various serious diseases for centuries. Besides, polysaccharides isolated from Cordyceps had demonstrated to exhibit potential bioactivities, especially antioxidant activity. Hence, this study concentrated on the antioxidant effects of exopolysaccharides (EPS) isolated from ten kinds of Cordyceps cultured broth. Consequently, Cordyceps sinensis cultured broth possessed the highest EPS as well as total carbohydrate content, but the nearly lowest protein content (2.75 g/l, 69.39 % and 1.01 % respectively).

To test the role of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase on the telomerase activity, we determined the telomerase activity in leukemic cells K562 treated with benzamide and 4-amino 1,8 naphthalimide (NAP), the inhibitors of PARP. We observed that both the agents inhibited telomerase activity in a dose-dependent manner. The doses of benzamide and NAP that inhibited telo-merase activity to 50% of untreated control cells were 10.7 ± 0.6 mmand 200 ± 7lm, respectively.

For a long time, the haemerythrin family of proteins was considered to be restricted to only a few phyla of marine invertebrates. When analysing dif-ferential protein expression in the methane-oxidizing bacterium, Methylo-coccus capsulatus(Bath), grown at a high and low copper-to-biomass ratio, respectively, we identified a putative prokaryotic haemerythrin expressed in high-copper cultures.

The Nordic institutions and the long tradition of Nordic co-operation in different forms could also be seen as a hallmark of the joint actions of “non-European Nordic countries”. In a historic perspective, the states have experienced war between and domination of each other. I will use the example of one practice, “the vision quest,” a ritual found in Lakota culture.... When this ritual is brought into New Age context, its meaning and power are altered. The focus shifts to white people’s needs and vision, which in most New Age venues are about individual growth and prosperity. There is no accountability to a community, particularly any Native community.
