In this study, the gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were synthesized via redox reaction, by using ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) as a protecting and reducing agent, with tetrachloroauric acid (HAuCl4) as precursor and seed solution. The ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) method was utilized to investigated the reaction conditions (the EDTA:HAuCl4 ratio, the amount of seed solution and stirring solution time) at room temperature. The synthesized AuNPs were deposited on the surface of fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) by electrophoresis deposition.

In this work, gold nanorods (AuNRs) with well-controlled aspect ratios were prepared using a modified seedgrowth method and covered by TiO2 layers through the hydrothermal reaction to improve stability. Integrating TiO2 with plasmonic rod-like gold nanoparticles could enhance their photo activity by the local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect. AuNRs aspect ratios were controlled by varying the amount of seed solution, reducing agents, surfactant (CTAB), and titanium (IV) but oxide.

We report on the improved stability and yield of silver nanorods with well controlled aspect ratios synthesized using a modified seed mediated approach conducted at room temperature. It is found that the longitudinal surface plasmon resonance of these nanoparticles can be tuned in the spectral range 400e 700 nm by varying the concentration of seed particles.

Hydropriming has the potential to ameliorate the stress-induced ill effects on yields of the crop plants and quality of seed produced. In the present study, half of the fresh seeds of maize hybrid, PEHM 5 and its parental lines (Female - CM 150, Male - CM 151) were subjected to accelerated aging test for bringing down the viability and vigour, thereby creating low vigour lots while high vigour lots consisted of fresh seeds, which were hydroprimed (30 h at 25°C). Half of the hydroprimed seeds were surface dried while the other half were redried back to the original moisture contents.

Characteristic features of seed and testa cells in 13 species of Allium, representing its five recognized sections, Compactoprason, Megaloprason, Procerallium, Decipientia and Pseudoprason were studied using both stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope. The identified characters, such as seed shape, alignment and shape of testa cells, features of outer cell walls, verruca type, density of verrucae and granules, seed size as well as cell wall undulations were evaluated statistically. The our findings indicated the significance level of P ≤ 0.

A novel adsorbent Fe3O4/Ni/NixB nanocomposite was synthesized and used for the adsorption of copper. Moreover, natural adsorbents carob and grape seeds were used for this purpose. The surfaces and the elemental compositions of the adsorbents were characterized by SEM-EDX. The zero point charges of pH of Fe3O4/Ni/NixB nanocomposite, carob, and grape seeds were found as 8.4, 6.0, and 5.6, respectively. The Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm models were used for the identification of the mechanism of the adsorption.

This study aims to employ highly efficient ultrasound-assisted extraction of tamanu oil from seed kernel. Response surface methodology (RSM) with Box-Hunter design was used to investigate the simultaneous effects of multi-factors encompassing extraction time, temperature, and solvent-to-material ratio. The optimum combination of those factors was then determined to ensure optimum extraction efficiencies [12, 13]. The extracted oil was evaluated in terms of physicochemical indexes, composition, and wound healing activity.

The variable considers percent pH, NaOH concentration and Flour to solvent ratio 15 g of flour. As previous literature was not available preliminary trials were conducted to decide the approximate concentration of pH, NaOH concentration and Flour to solvent ratio 15 g of flour. On the basis of trials ranges of variable decided which were 7 to 11% for pH, 0.6 to 2 (Molar) NaOH concentration and 20 to 60 % Flour to solvent ratio.

Microwave energy has very successful application in the field of food processing particularly for food drying to preserve the quality of the precious food materials. In this article, various food materials dried using microwave energy were extensively reviewed. Microwave drying appears to be a viable drying method for the rapid drying of food materials. It was noticed that at the higher microwave output power considerably lower drying time took place. The application of pulsed microwave energy was found more efficient than the continuous application.
