The first years English majored students

This study aims to report on an investigation into Dong Nai University EFL students' beliefs and practices of autonomous learning. The study was carried out for 6 weeks in the first semester of school year 2023-2024 at Dong Nai University, Vietnam. The research employed a quantitative method by using a questionnaire to gather data from 80 English-majored students.

The object of the research is 60 first-year non- English language major students at Thai Nguyen University of Sciences. The students were randomly divided into 2 groups (experimental group and control group), each group consisted of 30 students.

The study was conducted with the participation of 150 first-year and second-year English major students at the School of Foreign Languages, Thai Nguyen University. The results of the study indicate that all the vocabulary learning strategies listed in the questionnaire were used by the participants.

The study investigates the application of tongue twister as a technique to improve first-year non-English major students through a seven-stage action research process.
