Soy milk is extracted from soybeans. Soy milk contains the same amount of protein and fat as cow’s milk, and it does not contain sugar, lactose, or cholesterol. In this study, we investigated the blend ratio of soybeans: black sesame was 8/2; 7/3; 6/4; 5/5; 4/6; milk to sugar was 8/2; 7/3; 6/4; 5/5; 4/6; and milk is assimilation level 500bar, 1000bar, 1500bar.

Quantifying the multiple processes which control and modulate the extent of oral bioavailability for drug candidates is critical to accurate projection of human pharmacokinetics (PK). Understanding how gut wall metabolism and hepatic elimination factor into first-pass clearance of drugs has improved enormously. Typically, the cytochrome P450s, uridine 5′- diphosphate-glucuronosyltransferases and sulfotransferases, are the main enzyme classes responsible for drug metabolism. Knowledge of the isoforms functionally expressed within organs of first-pass clearance, their anatomical topology (e.

In a previous study, the S100A8/A9 protein, a Ca2+- and arachidonic acid-binding protein, abundant in neutrophil cytosol, was found to potentiate the activation of the redox component of the O2– generating oxidase in neutrophils, namely the membrane-bound flavocytochrome b, by the cytosolic phox proteins p67phox, p47phox and Rac ` (Doussiere J., Bouzidi F. and Vignais P.V. (2001) Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 285, 1317–1320). This led us to check by immunoprecipitation and protein fractionation whether the cytosolic phox proteins could bind to S100A8/A9.

Department of Biochemistry, University of Rajshahi, Rajshahi-6205. Bangladesh Three lectins were extracted and purified from mulberry seeds by gel filtration of 100% ammonium sulfate saturated crude protein extract followed by ion-exchange chromatography on DEAE and CM-cellulose. The lectins were found to be homogeneous as judged by polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis. The molecular masses of the lectins as determined by gel filtration were 175 000 for MSL-1, 120 000 for MSL-2 and 89 500 for MSL-3....

From the antennae of the moth Mamestra brassicae, we have identified a lepidopteran G protein a subunit belonging to the Gq family, through immunological detection in crude antennal extract and antennal primary cell cultures, followed by molecular cloning. The complete cDNA sequence (1540 bp) contains an open reading frame encoding a protein of 353 amino acids.

A cDNA encoding 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6bisphosphatase was isolated from a Spinacia oleracea leaf library and used to express a recombinant enzyme in Escherichia coli and Spodoptera frugiperda cells. The insoluble protein expressed in E. coli was purified and used to raise antibodies. Western blot analysis of a protein extract from spinach leaf showed a single band of 90.8 kDa. Soluble protein was purified to homogeneity from S. frugiperda cells infected with recombinant baculovirus harboring the isolated cDNA. ...

Western-analysis using anti-CK2btes Ig revealed CK2btes protein in Drosophila testes extract. Expression of a CK2btes± b-galactosidase fusion protein driven by the CK2btes pro-moter was found in transgenic ¯ies at postmitotic stages of spermatogenesis.

Decorin is a small leucine-rich chondroitin/dermatan sulfate proteoglycan reported to interact with ®brillar collagens through its protein core and to localize atdandebands of the collagen ®bril banding pattern. Using a solid-phase assay, we have determined the interaction of peptides derivedbyCNBr cleavage of type I and type II collagenwith decorin extracted from bovine tendon and its protein core and with a recombinant decorin preparation.

In this paper we address the problem of extracting features relevant for predicting protein±protein interaction sites from the three-dimensional structures of protein complexes. Our approach is based on information about evolutionary con-servation and surface disposition. We implement a neural network based system, which uses a cross validation proce-dure and allows the correct detection of 73% of the residues involved in protein interactions in a selected database comprising 226 heterodimers.

In spiders soluble proteins are converted to form insoluble silk fibres, stronger than steel. The final fibre product has longbeen the subject of study;however, little is knownabout the conversion process in the silk-producing gland of the spider. Here we describe a study of the conversion of the soluble form of the major spider-silk protein, spidroin, directly extracted from the silk gland, to ab-sheet enriched stateusing circular dichroism(CD) spectroscopy.

The three genespduCDEencoding the diol dehydratase of Lactobacillus collinoides, have been cloned for overexpres-sion in the pQE30 vector. Although the three subunits of the protein were highly induced, no activity was detected in cell extracts. The enzyme was therefore purified to near homo-geneity by ammoniumsulfate precipitation and gel filtration chromatography. In fractions showing diol dehydratase activity, three main bands were present after SDS/PAGE with molecular masses of 63, 28 and 22 kDa, respectively....

An extracellular lipase, LipA, extracted fromAcinetobacter sp. RAG-1 grown on hexadecane was purified and proper-ties of the enzyme investigated. The enzyme is released into the growth medium during the transition to stationary phase. The lipase was harvested from cells grown to sta-tionary phase, and purified with 22% yield and 10-fold purification. The protein demonstrates little affinity for anionexchange resins, withcontaminatingproteins removed by passing crude supernatants over a Mono Q column....

A novel nucleosidase enzymatic activity was discovered in the marine spongeAxinella polypoides. This enzyme, desig-nated as ATP N-glycosidase, converts adenosine-5¢-tri-phosphate into adenine and ribose-5-triphosphate. The crude extract ofA.polypoideswas capable of hydrolysing 25lmol ATPÆmin )1 per g wet weight of sponge. The cata-lytic activity of a sponge crude extract permg total protein is comparable with specific activities of purified plant adeno-sine and bacterial AMP nucleosidases.

A100-kDa proteinwith endoglucanase activitywas purified from Triton X-100 extract of cells of the thermoacidophilic Gram-positive bacterium Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius. The enzyme exhibited activity towards carboxy methyl cel-lulose and oat spelt xylan with pH and temperature optima of 4 and 80C, respectively. Cloning and nucleotide sequence analysis of the corresponding gene (celB) revealed an ORF encoding a preprotein of 959 amino acids which is consistent with an extracellular localization.

We showed expression of the tryptophan hydroxylase gene and of tryptophan hydroxylase protein immunoreactivity in mouse skin and skin cells. Extracts from skin and melano-cyte samples acetylated serotonin toN-acetylserotonin and tryptamine toN-acetyltryptamine. A different enzyme from arylalkylamineN-acetyltransferase mediated this reaction, as this gene was defective in the C57BL6 mouse, coding predominantly for a protein without enzymatic activity. Serotonin (but not tryptamine) acetylation varied according to hair cycle phase and anatomic location....
