ABSTRACT
Effect of feeding frequency on the growth of snakehead fish (Channa striata) was
examined in a completely random design with 4 treatments (the number of times
feeding: 1 times (11h) 2 times (6h, 18h); 3 times (5h, 12h, 19h) and 4 times/day
(5h, 11h, 17h, 23h)) and 3 replicates. Stocking density was 40 fish / 100 liters
and feed given as pellets containing 40% protein. The experiment was carried
out over 110 days. The results of the experiment showed that the pH of the
treatments ranged from 6.4 to 7.5 and tended to decrease. The factors TAN, NO 3, NO2-tended to increase during raising. The results offeeding 3 and 4 times/day
had the best growth in weight and the difference was statistically significant (P
0.05). The feed
conversion ratio of treatments 3 and 4 were lower than treatments 1 and 2.
Similarly, the Protein efficiency ratio of treatments 3 and 4 were higher than
treatments 1 and 2 and the difference between them was statistically significant
