TASK 1. Mai is talking with Anna, her new English friend, about Tet holiday in Vietnam. Work in pairs. Practise reading the dialogue. Mai: Do you know that Tet holiday is next month? Anna: What is Tet? Mai: It’s the time when Vietnamese people celebrate the beginning of spring. It’s also the start of the lunar new year. Anna: When is it exactly? Mai: Well, this year it’s on the 9th of February. Anna: What do you usually do at Tet? Mai: Well, we eat a lot of special foods, we dress up and visit friends and relatives, and we also play some traditional games. Anna: Oh, that sounds really interesting.

Anna: What do you usually do at Thanksgiving? Sam: Well, on this day, we gather with friends and family. Many people take time to think about what they are thankful for, cook up a storm, and eat. The star of most Thanksgiving dinners is a roast turkey. Anna: Oh, that sounds really interesting .

Sam: Christmas is a holiday for Catholics and Christmas Day is celebrated primarily in late December to commemorate the day when Jesus was born. Anna: When is it exactly ? Sam: Well, Christmas Day is the day when family members gather together around the fireplace, enjoy the meal, talk and play games in the warm atmosphere, then people come to the church and pray to the God, confess about their all sins and sufferings, their hope for healthiness and happiness and the most well-known symbol is Santa Claus. Anna: Oh, that sounds really interesting .
