PRONUCIATION: - Sounds: /ai/, /eɪ/ , /ɪǝ/, /eǝ/. - Stress: Stress in two and three syllable words, Sentence stress Một số quy tắc nhấn trọng âm tiếng Anh: 1. Trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất:  Hầu hết danh từ và tính từ có 2 âm tiết  thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất. Ví dụ: Danh từ: present (/ˈprezənt/), export (/ˈekspɔːt/), table (/ˈteɪbl/) Tính từ: noisy (/ˈnɔɪzi/), slender (ˈslendər), clever (ˈklevər), happy (/ˈhæpi/) • Đối với động từ nếu âm tiết thứ 2 chứa nguyên âm ngắn và kết thúc không nhiều hơn một phụ âm  thì trọng âm sẽ rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất. Ví dụ: enter (ˈentər), travel (ˈtrævəl), open (/ˈəʊpən/). • Các động từ có âm tiết cuối chứa ow thì trọng âm cũng rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất. Ví dụ: follow (/ˈfɒləʊ/), borrow (/ˈbɒrəʊ/). • Các từ 3 âm tiết có âm tiết cuối chứa nguyên âm dài hoặc nguyên âm đôi hoặc kết thúc nhiều hơn một phụ âm  thì thì trọng âm cũng rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất. Ví dụ: paradise (/ˈpærədaɪs), exercise (ˈeksəsaɪz). 2. Trọng âm vào âm tiết thứ hai • Hầu hết động từ có 2 âm tiết  thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 2. Ví dụ: export (/ɪkˈspɔːt/), decide (/dɪˈsaɪd/), begin (/bɪˈgɪn/). - Rising and falling intonation for questions. C. GRAMMAR 1. Modals: Should / Shouldn’t + V (bare-inf.) : diễn tả lời khuyên Ex: We should save electric energy at school. You shouldn’t throw waste paper in the classroom. 2. Asking and answering about distance: ( Hỏi và trả lời về khoảng cách)  How far is it from ................ to ...................? ( Nó thì bao xa từ … đến…?)  It is (about) + Số đo độ dài + from ............ to ......... . 3. Connectors: ALTHOUGH / THOUGH and HOWEVER Chúng ta nên sử dụng các liên từ nối này để diễn đạt sự tương phản. 3.1. Although /Though + S + V, S + V … . ( Mặc dù …. nhưng ….. ) 3.2. S + V. However, S + V… . ( …… tuy nhiên, …. ) 4. Yes /No questions: Theo mẫu câu: Aux. (Trợ động từ) + S + N / Adi / V(chia thì) ? Examples (các ví dụ) Is / Am / Are N / ADJ (danh từ /tính từ ) ? Answers: Is/Am/Are Yes, S + is / am / are/ was/ were. Yes, they are. Was/ Were  No, S + isn’t / am not /aren’t/wasn’t/ weren’t. No, she isn’t.  Yes, S + do / does / did. Yes, I do.
