UNIT 11: BOOKS A: READING I. AIMS/OBJECTIVES OF THE LESSON 1. Language focus - To provide Ss with new words and phrases 2. Skills - To develop reading skills: skimming for general ideas and specific information 3. Attitudes - To encourage Ss work in pairs and groups II. PREPARATION 1. Teacher: - Teaching aids: Lesson plan, text book, new words - Teaching method: Communicative language teaching 2. Students: - Read Unit 11– reading at home III. PROCEDURE 1. Class organization (1 minute) 2. Check – up (5 minutes) - Some students write the new words in Unit 10 - Some students revise the use of modal verbs 3. New lesson (35 minutes) Students’ activities Teacher’s activities 1. Before you read - Read out the words and phrases Before you read then check their meanings - Instructs Ss to read the words and - Work in pairs, ask and answer the questions phrases in the glossary + I often read books. Novels, short stories, comic books, science fiction books, craft books, thrillers and biography books are my favourite books + I often taste/swallow/chew and digest books - Introduces some new words and - Pay attention to new words and phrases phrases 2.
