Việt Nam là một trong những nƣớc bản địa của vùng phát sinh cây có múi, và cho đến nay cây có múi giữ vị trí quan trọng trong ngành sản xuất trái cây. Tuy nhiên những năm gần đây, dịch bệnh vàng lá greening cùng nhiều loại bệnh truyền nhiễm khác đã lây lan mạnh làm suy yếu cây, từ đó làm giảm năng suất và phẩm chất quả.
