  • In the present study Terminalia chebula was used as an eco-friendly natural colorant for sustainable textile coloration of woolen yarn with primary emphasis on thermodynamic and kinetic adsorption aspects of dyeing processes. Polyphenols and ellagitannins are the main coloring components of the dye extract. Assessment of the effect of pH on dye adsorption showed an increase in adsorption capacity with decreasing pH. Effect of temperature on dye adsorption showed 80 C as optimum temperature for wool dyeing with T. chebula dye extract.

  • Sewage sludge is the promising raw material for biosorbent preparation. In this work, we evaluated the heavy metals adsorption characteristics of alkali treated sewage sludge (ATSS) by equilibrium studies. The adsorption isotherms were fitted with Langmuir and Freundlich models. Comparing with untreated sewage sludge, the total adsorption capacity (qm) of ATSS (prepared with 0.125 mol/L NaOH) for Cd, Pb, Ni, increase d by 0.51, 0.70 and 0.32 mmol/g, respectively.   • Trong bài viết này, các tác giả đã nghiên cứu khả năng ức chế ăn mòn cho thép thường trong dung dịch axit HCl của dịch chiết nước lá chè xanh bằng phương pháp điện hóa. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy ở các nồng độ dịch chiết nước lá chè xanh khác nhau đều có khả năng ức chế ăn mòn thép thường. Hiệu quả ức chế ăn mòn nói chung tăng khi nồng độ dịch chiết tăng.

  • In this work, the efficiency of a material prepared from red mud and rice husk ash (ZRM), in Cr(VI) absorption, without the use of acid to neutralize raw red mud (RM), was examined. The physicochemical characteristics of the obtained material were determined by several methods, including BET nitrogen adsorption, XRD, SEM, and TEM. ZRM was employed in the adsorption of Cr(VI) in solution at 25o C with a Cr(VI) concentration of 20 ppm.

  • In this study, the adsorption behavior of some low-cost adsorbents such as peanut husk charcoal, fly ash, and natural zeolite, with respect to Cu2+, and Zn2+ ions, has been studied in order to consider its application to the purification of metal finishing wastewater. The batch method was employed: parameters such as pH, contact time, and initial metal concentration were studied. The influence of the pH of the metal ion solutions on the uptake levels of the metal ions by the different adsorbents used were carried out between pH 4 and pH 11.

  • CuO-ZnO nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel method. Characteristic properties of the synthesized nanoparticles were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms, and BJH pore diameter distributions. The formation of highly crystalline CuO and ZnO was confirmed by XRD. FT-IR confirmed that Zn-O and Cu-O bonds were formed in the material.

  • The authors of the article suggest simple and express method of spectrophotometric determination of iron (III) through derivatives of monoammonium salt of glycyrrhizic acid (MASGA). The spectral characteristics of the MASGA-Fe (III) complex - absorption maxima (λmax = 440nm) and the actual molar extinction coefficient (ε = 3,425 × 102) were determined. The optimal conditions for the determination of iron (III) in the range of its concentrations of 2,0–45,0 μg / 25 ml of solution have been established.

  • Adsorption by activated red mud (ARM) is investigated as a possible alternative to the conventional methods of Cr(VI) removal from aqueous synthetic solutions and industrial effluents. Adsorption characteristics suggest the heterogenous nature of the adsorbent surface sites with respect to the energy of adsorption. Various factors such as pH, contact time, Cr(VI) concentration, amount of adsorbent, and temperature are taken into account, and promising results are obtained.

  • In this work, platinum nanoparticles were dispersed on SBA-15 mesoporous material by incipient wetness method and the synthesized materials were characterized by XRD, TEM, EDX spectroscopies and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm measurement. The results indicated that 2D hexagonal ordered structure of SBA-15 was still maintained after grafting Pt on SBA-15 support and platinum nanoparticles existed both inside and outside the pore channels of SBA-15 material.   • The thesis has found a new method to increase the pore size of mesoporous carbon by filling the liquid glass into the pore of the template (silica SBA-15) before impregnating the carbon presource to limit the penetration of carbon sealed the pore system of SBA-15. Stability of mesoporous carbon is increases due to silicon are partially retained in materials. This technique opens the way of synthesis of mesoporous carbon as an adsorbent with a desired pore size and stability.

  • Sepiolite has been treated with ethanol under isothermal conditions and characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR, and BET measurements. The materials showed a typical lamellar structure and fibrous morphology. After treatment of sepiolite, the surface area of the solid is significantly improved while the material structure still remains.

  • Performance of a column bed device packed with specially fabricated Plaster of Paris (POP) pellets was evaluated for the removal of a potentially toxic Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) Pyrene (Pyr). The effect of initial Pyr concentration, flow rate, and adsorbent dosage was investigated on Pyr adsorption characteristics of two types of pellets (uncoated and adsorbent coated). Maximum Bed capacity (Mb), percentage removal and equilibrium Pyr uptake were calculated and breakthrough curves were plotted.
