This paper uses decomposition analysis and Tapio decoupling indicator to shed light on the role of reducing aggregate carbon emission intensity in decoupling economic growth from carbon emissions. The case study is Vietnam, a developing country with high carbon emissions per unit of GDP. Using data from the World Development Indicators by the World Bank, the research results show that low total carbon emissions growth and better decoupling status are achieved only in the years with a reduction in aggregate emission intensity.

In the case of length weight relationship (LWR), the coefficient of determination value (r2 ) was found 0.96 and the slope was found b = 1.50 which indicated the pattern of negative allometric growth of this species as b < 3. In contrast, an increase was recorded in the fecundity associated with the rise of total length, body weight and gonad weight showed a significant linear relationship. This study would assist in the development of induced breeding techniques and provide valuable information for the sustainable management of this population in the inland open ecosystem.

Suburbs in Melbourne present to us a unique context with which a new approach towards urban form can be devised using the existing conditions and opportunities found with infrastructural developments. This thesis contains the investigations on the various 'pathologies' of the urban fabric specifically on the potential use of 'Spaces Left-Over After Planning' as by-product to infrastructural development in relation to the reinvigoration of Melbourne suburbs under the influence of current and future metropolitan growth pressures.

These were; the introduced worm Lumbriculus variegatus Müller (Annelida: Oligochaeta), the introduced snail Physa acuta Draparnaud (Gastropoda: Physidae), the shrimp Paratya australiensis Kemp (Decapoda: Atyidae) and the midge Chironomus tepperi Skuse (Diptera: Chironomidae). The effects of salinity on growth, development and reproduction of these species were investigated through a series of laboratory tests.

The aim of this research was to investigate the formation of hydrogen sulphide for different sewage characteristics and flow rates. An experimental set-up was developed to simulate a section of a gravity sewer pipe, the set-up comprised of a pipe of 2 m long and 155 mm inside diameter, referred to in this thesis as a laboratory sewer pipe. The first stage of the experimental program involved developing a biological growth rich in sulphate-reducing bacteria inside the laboratory sewer pipe using synthetic sewage.

Finance is considered as the lifeblood of the economy and it is integral to a country's economic growth and stability. However, this perception has been called into question, particularly following the global financial crisis, giving rise to new research questions. For example, does too much finance harm economic growth? And does the financial sector serve society's economic and social needs? This thesis aims to provide cross-sectional and time-series evidence on the macroeconomic consequences of financialisation in an international context.
