Service innovation performance

This study focuses on a review of the literature on innovation capability and business performance among 3PL service providers in Malaysia. This study focuses on four attributes of innovation capability: (i) service innovation, (ii) process innovation, (iii) marketing innovation and (iv) management innovation. It contributes to the body of knowledge in this field by identifying the significant factors that influence innovativeness that will lead to a higher level of business performance among 3PL providers in Malaysia.

The development of this paper is based on a comprehensive literature review drawn from a total of 114 academic researches. Malaysia has achieved significant industrial growth over the years due to the enterprising intervention of multinational companies (MNCs). The organisational climate in terms of its collaborative nature and innovative efforts has led to the enhancement of creativity among MNCs. This article investigates the causal connection between social capital (SC), knowledge transfer, innovation and firm performance. Based on existing literature on social capital, we develop a research model showing that three dimensions of social capital, including network ties, trust and shared visions, have positive relationships with company performance via two mediators, namely knowledge transfer and innovation.

The research was conducted at a banking company in East Borneo, Indonesia. To improve the service innovation performance, companies need the ability to absorptive capacity. The study was tested with 197 employees working in banking companies in East Borneo, Indonesia. Data were collected using survey method with questionnaire. The survey responses submitted by respondents in this study indicate that the effect of absorptive capacity on service innovation performance shows significant results.
