Toluene is a component of volatile organic compounds which need to be converted into non-poisonous one. Thus, we study the spinel-typed catalyst as NiCo2O4 for total oxidation of toluene because the advantage of spinel catalyst is multi- defective.

A Total 8 semen sample from four healthy Gir breeding bulls were collected at weekly interval for two weeks period using of artificial vagina method for evaluation of semen biochemical attributes at various stages of cryopreservation of Gir bull semen. The overall mean values for oxidative stress parameters viz. lipid peroxidation and glutathione reductase were 51.14 ± 0.18 μmol/ml and 32.24 ± 0.64 U/L, respectively in neat semen samples.

The application of the normal hydrothermal and microwave hydrothermal process to recover the total oxides of the rare earths from monazite in Quang Nam by acids HCl, HNO3, H2SO4 and alkali NaOH have been studied. Research results show that the best conditions to obtain the total rare earth oxide in Quang Nam and with the highest performance microwave hydrothermal metallurgy ore monazite in Quang Nam particle size < 0,076mm in the rate of 12M H2SO4 /ore is 5:1 (ml/g) in 60 minutes in the microwave power 450W.

Catalytic oxidation of m-xylene was carried out over the copper oxide catalyst loaded on SiO2 300 m2/g. The various techniques were used to characterize the catalysts x-ray diffraction, TPRH2, N2 adsorption-desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tranmission electron microscopy (TEM) and CO pulse chemisorptions. The results indicate that the impregnated solution concentration exerts an influence on the catalytic activity.

Glycosphingolipids (GSLs) were purified from adults and plerocercoids of the tapeworm Diphyllobothrium hottai, and their chemical structures were determined. Total lipid fractions prepared from chloroform/methanol extracts of whole tissues were fractionated successively on ion-exchange chromatography, silicic acid column chromatography, and preparative TLC. The purified GSLs were characterized by methylation analysis, TLC-immunostaining, liquid secondary ion MS, MALDI-TOF MS, and 1H-NMR.

One-electron oxidation of six different c-type lysozymes from hen egg white, turkey egg white, human milk, horse milk, camel stomach and tortoise was studied by gamma-and pulse-radiolysis.In the first step, one tryptophan side chain is oxidized to indolyl free radical, which is produced quantitatively. As shown already, the indolyl radical subse-quently oxidizes a tyrosine side chain to the phenoxy radical in an intramolecular reaction. However this reaction is not total and its stoichiometry depends on the protein.Rate constants also vary between proteins, from 120Æs )1 to 1000Æs )1 at pH 7.

The transcription patterns of 64 linear double stranded DNA templates obtained with T7 RNA polymerase were investigated. These templates consisted of 17 nucleotide-long sequences under the control of the minimal bac-teriophage T7 promoter and represented all possible combinations of nucleotides at positions +8, +10 and +11.

The results of the present study show that human platelets take up L-arginine by two transport systems which are compatible with the systems y + and y + L. These Na + -independent transporters have been distinguished by treat-ing platelets with N-ethylmaleimide that blocks selectively systemy + .Systemy + , that accounts for 30–40%of the total transport, is characterized by low affinity forL-arginine, is unaffected byL-leucine, is sensitive to changes of membrane potential and totrans-stimulation. ...

A cascade of events (signal-transduction), mainly seen in rat cardiac myocytes and renal cells, is thought to occur after ouabain interaction with a minor fraction of Na + /K + -ATPase. Ahigher intracellularNa + concentration followed sodium pump inhibition by ouabain with a subsequent gradual increase or oscillations in intracellular Ca 2+ con-centration. Whether this increase in intracellular Ca 2+ concentration is part of the cascade, a result of the cascadeor a totally independent phenomenon are conflicting interpre-tations that are discussed. ...

Two proteins with similarity to IscA are encoded in the genome of the cyanobacteriumSynechocystisPCC 6803. One of them, the product ofslr1417 which accounts for 0.025% of the total soluble protein ofSynechocystiswas over-expressed inE. coliand purified. The purified protein was found to be mainly dimeric and did not contain any cofactor.Incubation with iron ions, cysteine andSynecho-cystisIscS led to the formation of one [2Fe2S] cluster at an IscA dimer as demonstrated (by the binding of about one iron and one sulfide ion per IscA monomer) by UV/Vis, EPR and Mo¨ssbauer spectroscopy....

Alterations in mitochondrial activity resulting from defects in mitochond-rial DNA (mtDNA) can modulate the biogenesis of mitochondria by mech-anisms that are still poorly understood. In order to study mitochondrial biogenesis in cells with impaired mitochondrial activity, we used rho-L929 and rho 0 143 B cells (partially and totally depleted of mtDNA, respectively),

Sialidases are enzymes that influence cellular activity by removing terminal sialic acid from glycolipids and glycoproteins. Four genetically distinct sia-lidases have been identified in mammalian cells. In this study, we demon-strate that three of these sialidases, lysosomal Neu1 and Neu4 and plasma membrane-associated Neu3, are expressed in human monocytes.

The cellobiohydrolase Pc_Cel7D is the major cellulase produced by the white-rot fungusPhanerochaete chrysosporium, constituting 10% of the total secreted protein in liquid culture on cellulose. The enzyme is classified into family 7 of the glycoside hydrolases and, like other family members, catalyses cellulose hydrolysis with net retention of the anomeric carbon configuration.

The effects of pesticide contamination on the metabolism of marine mol-luscs are poorly documented. We investigated the response of a marine bivalve, the Pacific oyster,Crassostrea gigas, using a suppression subtrac-tive hybridization method to identify up- and down-regulated genes after a 30-day exposure period to herbicides (a cocktail of atrazine, diuron and isoproturon, and to the single herbicide glyphosate). A total of 137 unique differentially expressed gene sequences was identified, as well as their asso-ciated physiological process....

Human cytochrome P450 3A4 forms a series of minor testosterone hydroxylation products in addition to 6b-hy-droxytestosterone, the major product. One of these, formed at the next highest rate after the 6b-and 2b-hydroxy prod-ucts, was identified as 1b-hydroxytestosterone. This product was characterized from a mixture of testosterone oxidation products using an HPLC-solid phase extraction-cryoprobe NMR/time-of-flight mass spectrometry system, with an estimated total of6lgof this product.Mass spectrometry established the formula as C19H29O3(MH + 305.2080)....
