UNIT 9: THE POST OFFICE LISTENING
A. Pre-Listening: • Pictures • Question-Answer: 1/ Is your family on the phone? What is your phone number? 2/ Does any member of your family have a cellphone? What make is it? 3/ What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of a cellphones? (talk to everyone at almost anytime anywhere, never miss any important information…, be annoyed at calling when sleeping or having a meeting…)

While-Listening: • Introduce the listening. Let Ss have a look at Task1 & Task2. • Ss listen to the tape: 1 or 2 times  Do Task1, Listen again  Do Task 2 • Conduct the correction.

Summarise the main ideas of the listening passage with some points: - Vietnam’s rapid growth in telephone numbers - The addition of digits to existing telephone numbers to meet the increasing demands. - The reduction in monthly telephone fees - The expansion of the telephone networks to Vietnam’s rural areas. * Give Ss some cues relating to the listening passage. (for lower students)
