Family life has been changing across some Southeast Asian countries over the past few decades. Many
years ago. most ofteenagers lived with their families, spending several hours at school and the rest of time
at home enjoying family atmosphere. Besides their studying, adolescents could do some housework like

parents about social skills and doing domestic chores. On one hand, some people think that teenage students

Part l:
Interviewer: Tell me about your band, Joss.
Joss: There are two guys and two girls in my band. One of them is my sister Shirley. She's two years
younger than me.
Interviewer: So what's her role in the band?
Joss: She's a guitarist like my father. When we were kids, my dad always took us to concerts to watch
excellent bands perform live. Shirley and I had a lot offun.
Interviewer: When did you start writing music?
Joss: I've been writing since I was eleven. Shirley later started working with me. I like rock music,
whereas she likes world music.
Interviewer: How was your band formed?
- Joss: Shirley and I were performing in a concert at our college. After the event, two music school
students asked us if we wanted to start a band with them. We agreed to try it out, and it was fantastic.
Interviewer: Did your band get immediate success?
Joss: Well, not really. We spent the first year practising. We performed in local concerts, and the
audiences loved what we did. Then here we are today with a lot of fans.

MC: Music is an extremely effective type of entertainment. It may offer us joy and motivation, as well as
accompany us though bad times. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. Music has the power to do so
much more. Here's a story from Robert.
Robert: Well, at the end of last year, when I was sitting in my bedroom listening to music. a song came
on that brought me back to my youth in Colombia. It reminded me of my entire family enjoying a nice
time. As the song brought me back in time, I missed my family so much.
MC: When do you listen to music?
Robert: I often listen to music while working out or dancing. I prefer songs with strong beats and lots of
movement.
MC: Why do you find music magical?
Robertl For me. music is a form of medicine. It has the ability to activate the brain. reduce our anxiety,
and soothe our emotions. In fact, studies have shown that music can be effective in treating a wide range
of ailments. from mental health conditions to heart disease.
