  1. L esson Plan 12 – Ham Thuan Bac High School UNIT 13 SEA GAMES SPEAKING Period 79 A. Aims: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to - report some of the records at the 22nd SEA Games and the sports results of the match. - use it in the real life. 1. Knowledge: - General knowledge: Students can understand some of the records at the 22nd Sea Games - Language: asking and answering about records at the 22nd SEA Games - New words: words related to some sports at the 22nd SEA Games - Talking about sports events of the 22nd SEA Games 2. Skills: - Talking about (reporting) sports results B. Methods: integrated, mainly communicative C. Teaching aids : Textbook, posters, pictures, …. D. Procedures: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES I. WARM – UP ( 5 min.) - Divides the class into 2 groups: Each group tells * Expected answers and presents some of the sports. The group gives GR 1: more names will be the winner GR 2: - Goes round to provide help and listen to students - Calls 2 groups to present their results on the - Listen, discuss, answer and copy board - Corrects pronunciation and mistakes - Go to the board to match - Declares the winner  Introduces the new lesson "In today’s speaking section, you will practice  New words: Talking about some names of sports" 1 - play-off (n) : tran quyet dinh - Listen. - Read in pairs - Group works. II. PRESENTATION ( 35 min.) 1. Pre-speaking: Task 1 Task 1 - Asks students to look at symbols and names of 1. football (soccer) 2. tennis 3. swimming 4. cycling sports 5. basketball 6. (running) athletics - Calls some students to speak - Corrects pronunciation and gives answers Task 2 : 2. While – speaking - Look at the book - Asks students to look at the books and talk about - Work in pairs some of the records at the 22 nd SEA Games, using - Listen to their friends the information in the table Suggested answer: - Asks students to pronounce some words (names A: Hi Nhien. What are you doing? o f athletes and sports) B: Well, I’m searching for sport records at the 22nd SEA - Lets students work in pairs Games. - Goes round to check their activities A: It’s great. Could you tell me about the record of the - Calls some students to practise speaking Men’s 200 meters? Task 2 : Talk about each of water sports. B: A man coming from Thailand won the game. Women's High Jump A: Wow! How excellent he was! He ran very fast. Swimming (men's1500m) Cycling (Women's 25km -Students divide in pairs. cross-country -Students express their opinions. Tennis (Men's Singles) Ex: Boonthung, the Thai, won the Men's 200 metres. He ran 200 metres in 20.14 seconds. Task 3 : 3. After – speaking: - work in pairs to do task 3 Task 3: Make a report on the sports results, using Suggested answer information in the scoreboard - Thailand and Malaysia played in the Women’s Football Third-Place Playoff. The Thai team won the bronze medal. The results (score) was 6-1. - Goes round to provide help - Calls some students to speak loudly in front of - Thailand and Vietnam played in the Men’s Football Final. The Thai team won the gold medal. The score was the class 2 -1. - Corrects pronunciation and gives comments - Thailand and Vietnam played in the Women’s Volleyball - Gives marks Final. The Thai team won the gold medal. The score was 3 -0. III. CONSOLIDATION & HOMEWORK (5') -Write the application process again - Discuss in groups of four Ss - Prepare for part C - LISTENING - Asks Ss to discuss and practice in groups - Present the modal in front of the class - Take notes and do the exercise at home.
