A metal-organic framework Cu2(NDC)2(DABCO) was synthesized from copper nitrate trihydrate, 2,6-Napthalenedicarboxylic acid (H2NDC), and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) by solvothermal method. Its physicochemical properties were confirmed by several techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

Reduced graphene oxide (Gr) has been synthesized electrochemically on the surface of copper metal at a fixed potential of 1.5 V versus a standard saturated calomel electrode (SCE). The synthesized Gr was then characterized with X-Ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, raman and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopies.

A copper-organic framework Cu2(BDC)2DABCO was synthesized, and used as a recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for C-N coupling reaction between benzamide and cyclohexane. 94% yield of N-cyclohexylbenzamide was achieved under the optimized condition. The copper-organic framework catalyst was truly heterogeneous and could be used at least 4 cycles without degradation of catalytic performance.

Porous carbon material is one of the most common and very important for various applications thank to its high surface area and adsorption capability. In this study, mesoporous carbon was prepared by thermal decomposition of copper-based metal-organic framework MOF-199 under inert atmosphere and followed by immersing in diluted HNO3 solution in order to remove metal/metal oxide and activation of the resultant porous carbon.

Copper and zinc are also toxic to humans when high levels are ingested and an excess of copper and zinc interferes with plant growth. It is important to monitor copper and zinc content in soil to avoid marketing food products which contain dangerous amounts of these heavy metals. This article presents the results of a study done to determine the copper and zinc content of soil and four agricultural products grown in Tan Lap Co-operative, Dan Phuong District, Hanoi.

In this study, the effect of angle and length of copper made slope plate on the microstructure of A360-Aluminum alloy is investigated. Microstructure study of metallographic samples in different conditions revealed that for 400mm slope length and 60° slope angle the optimum sphierized and homogenized microstructure is achieved.

The main aim of this research is to find Is copper still economic indicator or not. The first part of this study will concentrate on whether copper is an economic indicator or not and also find the reason behind why it is economic indicator. The second part of this research aims on comparing copper with other metals and important commodity, to understand why not other metals seen like an economic indicator. Investigations of kinetics of p-xylene deep oxidation on CuO/ -Al2O3 and CuO/ZSM-5 have been carried out. Specific surface area and pore size of catalyst samples as well as metallic state characteristics and catalytic properties of copper have been established. Catalyst CuO/ZSM-5 has been found to be more active than the first one, but it expressed lower stability because of less stable active form of Cu2+ on zeolite surface.

Catalytic oxidation of m-xylene was carried out over the copper oxide catalyst loaded on SiO2 300 m2/g. The various techniques were used to characterize the catalysts x-ray diffraction, TPRH2, N2 adsorption-desorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tranmission electron microscopy (TEM) and CO pulse chemisorptions. The results indicate that the impregnated solution concentration exerts an influence on the catalytic activity.

Wilson disease (WD), an inherited disorder affecting copper metabolism, is characterized by hepatic cirrhosis and neuronal degeneration, which result from toxic levels of copper that accumulate in the liver and brain, respectively. We reported previously that the 1.3-kb promoter of the WD gene contains four metal response elements (MREs). Among the four MREs, MREa plays the most important role in the transcriptional activation of the WD promoter.

The interaction between the human copper(I) chaperone, HAH1, and one of its two physiological partners, the Menkes disease protein (ATP7A), was investigated in solution using heteronuclear NMR. The study was carried out through titrations involving HAH1 and either the second or the fifth soluble domains of ATP7A (MNK2 and MNK5, respectively), in the pres-ence of copper(I). The copper-transfer properties of MNK2 and MNK5 are similar, and differ significantly from those previously observed for the yeast homologous system. ...

We studied the interaction of several metal ions with the copper chaperone fromEnterococcus hirae(EhCopZ). We show that the stoichiometry of the protein–metal complex varies with the experimental conditions used. At high con-centration of the protein in a noncoordinatingbuffer, a dimer, (EhCopZ)2–metal, was formed. The presence of a potentially coordinatingmolecule L in the solution leads to the formation of a monomeric ternary complex, EhCopZ– Cu–L, where L can be a buffer or a coordinatingmole-cule (glutathione, tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine). ...

The prion protein (PrP) is the key protein implicated in transmissible spongiform encephalopathies. It is a metalloprotein that binds manganese and copper. The latter is involved in the physiological function of the pro-tein. We have previously found that PrP expression inPichia pastorisaffects intracellular metal ion concentrations and that formation of protease-resistant PrP is induced by additional copper and⁄or manganese.

In yeast, copper delivery to the trans-Golgi network involves interactions between the metallo-chaperone Atx1 and the N-terminus of Ccc2, the P-type ATPase responsible for copper transport acrosstrans-Golgi network membranes. Disruption of the Atx1–Ccc2 route leads to cell growth arrest in a copper-and-iron-limited medium, a phenotype allowing complementa-tion studies.

If we connect a battery across a body, there is a movement of free electrons towards the positive end. This movement of electrons is an electric current. All materials can be classified into three groups according to how readily they permit an electric current to flow. These are: conductors, insulators, and semiconductors. In the first category are substances which provide an easy path for an electric current. All metals are conductors, however some metals do not conduct well. Manganin, for example, is a poor conductor. Copper is a good conductor, therefore it is widely used for cables.
