A spectrophotometric determination
-
In this study, the simultaneous determination of Co, Cd, Ni, Cu, and Pb was carried out as a color complex with 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol in an aqueous solution under the assesting of machine learning. A partial least-squares multivariate linear regression and artificial neuron network for the analysis of mixtures of metals were developed. MATLAB is a powerful software machine learning program that was used to support matrix calculations and displays.

Pancreatic lipase is one of the safest targets of anti-obesity drugs. To date, orlistat is the only pancreatic lipase inhibitor approved for the long-term treatment of obesity. Therefore, there is an elevated need to find new drugs for this disease. Determining the factors affecting the test to evaluate pancreatic lipase inhibitory activity in order to build a standard assay procedure is necessary. This will make it much easier for researchers to find novel compounds that inhibit the enzyme.

Simple and accurate spectrophotometric methods are presented for the determination of five 3-hydroxy-3- methylglutaryl coenzyme-A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors (statins), namely atorvastatin, fluvastatin, pitavastatin, rosuvastatin, and simvastatin, in pharmaceutical preparations. The methods are based on the reaction of drugs as n-electron donor with 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane as π-acceptors to give highly colored complex species. All variables were studied in order to optimize the reaction conditions.

A new spectrophotometric method has been developed for determination of molybdenum using surfactantmediated liquid–liquid extraction. Molybdenum(V) obtained by ascorbic acid reduction in 2.5 M H2 SO4 reacted spontaneously with thiocyanate and cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), forming an intense orange yellow complex that was extracted quantitatively into 1,2-dichloroethane and absorbed at 460 nm. The absorbance of the extract was found to be stable for more than 24 h.

A simple and efficient method for speciation and determination of iron in different water samples was developed. The method is based on ionic liquid ultrasound assisted dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (IL-USADLLME) followed by spectrophotometric determination. Fe(II) is complexed with 2,4,6-tri(2’-pyridyl)-l,3,5-triazine (TPTZ), neutralized through ion pair formation with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and extracted into 1-hexyl-3- methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate [C6MIM][PF6].

A novel method for the determination of mercury(II) is suggested. The procedure is based on the formation of an ion associate between the bromide complex of Hg(II) and Astrazon Red 6B dye and vortex-assisted liquid–liquid microextraction of the ion associate formed, with subsequent spectrophotometric detection. The variables that affect the procedure, such as pH, the concentration of ligand and dye, the type and volume of extraction solvent, and the rate and time of vortex mixing, were optimized.

A supramolecular solvent microextraction procedure was established for the separation/preconcentration of uranium(VI) (U(VI)) prior to its determination by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. 1-(2-Pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) was used to form a red chelate (U-PAN) with U(VI) at pH 10. U-PAN was extracted by undecanol in tetrahydrofuran. All the parameters that affect extraction efficiency like solution pH, amount of ligand, type and volume of supramolecular solvent, sample volume, and diverse ion effect were optimized.

Carmoisine (E122) is a synthetic azo dye that is generally used to give a red color to food products. In this work, a sensitive and simple method was developed for the determination of carmoisine based on cloud point extraction. To obtain the optimum conditions for the extraction efficiency of carmoisine, the effects of different analytical parameters such as H2 SO4 concentration, concentration of Triton X-114, and equilibrium temperature were studied. The calibration graph was linear between 0.05 and 5.

An accurate, precise, and simple spectrophotometric method is proposed for the determination of the antithyroid drug carbimazole using ruthenium(III) chloride. This method is based on the formation at room temperature of a stable yellow-colored complex with λmax 370 nm. The method has a Beer’s law range of 7.81 to 1.95 × 10 2 µg mL−1, molar absorptivity coefficient ε = 1.519 × 103 L mol−1 cm−1, and correlation coefficient of 0.997. The metal:ligand (M:L) ratio of the complex was confirmed by the mole ratio and Job’s method of continuous variation, suggesting a 1:2 stoichiometry.

A new approach based on a selective charge transfer reaction with alizarin red S is described for the simultaneous determination of azithromycin and levofloxacin in their binary mixtures using an absorption-factor spectrophotometric method. Native absorbance was used for the determination for levofloxacin, while a charge transfer complexation of alizarin red S served as the basis for the quantitation of azithromycin. The reaction of azithromycin with alizarin red S was possible in methanol under neutral conditions within 15 min at 25◦C.

In the present work, a simple automated microplate method based on cupric ion reduction is described for determining total reducing sugars in food extracts and synthetic serum. The reaction of Cu(II)-Nc (cupric-neocuproine) with reducing sugars was performed in alkaline medium in microplates, and the absorbance of the formed highly colored Cu(I)-Nc chelate in a plate reader at 450 nm was recorded. The proposed method was applied to reducing sugars (glucose, fructose, galactose, maltose, and lactose) and their linear calibration curves were constructed.

In this work, ratio spectra of the first derivative spectrophotometric and liquid chromatographic methods have been described for the first time for the simultaneous determination of perindopril (PER), indapamide (IND), and amlodipine (AML) in dosage forms. For chromatographic separations several mobile phase compositions were tested for efficient separation with the use of a new column technology related to superficially porous particles. Optimum chromatographic separation was achieved using a Kinetex C18 column (150 × 4.6 mm I.D. 5 µm) at a flow rate of 1.5 mL min−1 .

This study is related to the determination of fluoride ion by the conversion of pink-colored Fe(III) and indole3-acetic acid (IAA) into a colorless hexafluoride ferrite complex with the addition of fluoride. The optimum conditions of the complex formation were found to be pH 1.7 and a temperature of 60 °C. The maximum absorption wavelength of the complex and the detection limit of the method were 525 nm and 0.26 mg/L, respectively.
